Since the early 70s when my brother began to bring home samplings of the incredible, and in some ways unparalleled music of the time - it seemed almost daily - I became a huge music fan.

The key is to recognize the roots of blues and jazz and how they run through just about all modern music - at the same time there is an incredible movement and merging of all these music forms going on - my goal is to shine a bright light on the artists making this music wherever they are in the world, while not losing sight of where we came from.

 

I have other themes that I'll be weaving such as the explosion of growth and creativity from the mid sixties to the mid seventies, from R&B, to free jazz, fusion jazz, heavy metal, prog rock and so many other forms that were borne at this time, we recognize that most of it was rooted in blues, jazz or both.

 

My aim for MMB is to become a dynamic, multi-media channel and resource for curious folk anywhere in the world - celebrating the roots of jazz + blues and how eventually this continuum begat rock, funk and soul - owing their beginnings to America's greatest exports, blues and jazz.
