Mateo’s Magic Bus takes listeners on a journey around the world most weeks, exploring the roots of jazz and blues alongside music from today and the past decades that has been influenced by these incredible art forms.
In this week's show DJ Mateo bookends two versions of Stevie Wonder's Love's In Need of Love Today (first track on Songs in the Key of Life), Stevie's original first and then an incredible remake from Jim James and The Sachal Ensemble off their epic Songs of Lahore album from a few years back.
DJ Mateo then spins a handful of amazing soul and blues from King Curtis, Aretha and early Allmans.
The Bus then takes a sharp turn to feature the new album from The Plains, a collaboration of Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield alongside Jess Williamson - an amazing album weaving many traditions which also fetched an 8.0 from Pitchfork, which is about as high as it gets.
Look out for some Dire Straits, Dylan and Stones along the way.
