Mateo’s Magic Bus takes listeners on a journey around the world most weeks, exploring the roots of jazz and blues alongside music from today and the past decades that has been influenced by these incredible art forms.
So much to celebrate in this week's ride on the bus! There's some great new music from Blue Note including a rich second edition of its Blue Note Re:Imagined series with South London jazz, soul, Afrobeat and funk artists reinterpreting some of the classics in the Blue Note catalogue. Speaking of Blue Note and South London, Blue Note recording artists Blue Lab Beats have a new live album out recorded at Royal Albert Hall earlier in 2022, it's awesome!
My Morning Jacket has a re-release / deluxe edition of their classic, amazing album Circuital coming out and DJ Mateo is spinning the pre-release title track from the album.
The Bus then takes a sharp turn into Jazz Alley for some classic Chet Baker (thanks Sonny) off his Riverside greatest hits, as well as a few cuts off of the Bill Evans & Stan Getz album (epic!).
Look out for some Robert Glasper, Brad Mehldau, and Pat Metheny along the way.
