We’re excited to have on Mateo’s Magic Bus and KFFR today Colemine recording artist, Kendra Morris, who has just released a few singles & a video - one of the singles, Dear Buddy, is a deeply moving love letter to her 10-year old & the newest track from Kendra, who is based in Brooklyn.

Since Mateo’s Magic Bus first left the station in 2019 on KFFR - we have been playing Kendra's great catalogue of music and her soulful sounds hit on our key roots, so glad to have her on The Bus!
Over 20+ minutes, host DJ Mateo and Kendra cover the waterfront, from her origin story, born not far from the Bay Area & coming up in Florida to her music journey really starting to take off when she moved to Brooklyn in the early 2000s. We discuss her parent's album collection and their tastes as an early influence though where she started recording her own songs on a Tascam 8-track & her first EP in 2010 recorded with producer Jeremy Page.
Then releasing a series of singles including Concrete Waves, the album Banshee in 2012 and then in 2013 the album Mockingbird, all received critical acclaim and a cult following along with several film + tv placements.
We the cover her other artistic dimension, that as an accomplished visual artist as well, bringing it alongside her music talking about the importance of that in her creative arc. Then we focus on the last 10 years and the future for Kendra and her amazing partnership with Colemine Records.
It's a wonderful perspective on one of today's great music and visual artists, enjoy the ride and for more information, check the URLs at the end of the video. Enjoy the ride and as always...
Rock on,
DJ Mateo
